Thousands of years ago, Zeus created 14 immortal warriors to guard the gods of Olympus. They helped open Pandora’s Box which released the evil demons within it. The gods punished the warriors by forcing each warrior to house one of those demons. For the first few hundred years, the demons ruled the warriors and wreaked evil deeds upon the earth but the warriors are now in control of their demons. Now, they face a powerful enemy and they must find for ancient relics in order to find Pandora’s Box to save themselves and the world.
I avoided this series for a long time because I made the mistake of reading the prequel to the series or I tried to read it but could not get into it. I set it aside and wrote the series off thinking it was just like the prequel. I was so wrong. I was in a lull and needed a new series to read. I didn’t want to read Lords of the Underworld but read some good reviews about Gena Showalter’s Atlantis series. I read that and liked it and then decided to read Lords of the Underworld and liked it better than the Atlantis series. Actually, as of this review, I am still reading the series. I’m on Paris’ book right now.
The male characters are dark and dangerous but I couldn’t help liking them. The female characters are spunky and give the warriors a run for their money. The plot of the series is captivating and I am hooked. There was only one problem that I could find with the series. Sometimes, I find myself skipping over paragraphs especially sex scenes because Gena over describes things and makes the characters go through a process of overthinking their emotions and why they are having those emotions. Sometimes they rehash these feeling and thoughts over and over which gets monotonous. It ruins a good sex scene for me. Other than that, this is one of those series that everyone who loves paranormal romance and urban fantasy should read.

This imaginative world where the gods created Atlantis to hide their mistakes which are vampires, dragons, nymphs and many other creatures enchanted me in book one so I continued the series and was not sorry. I plowed through the rest of the books in no time at all.
Angels of the Dark
This is a spinoff series from Lords of the Underworld.
